For the inaugural Friends of Conservation event, we invite you to join CAM’s conservation staff for an evening of deep dives into the history, manufacture, and techniques of egg tempera painting. Julie Ribits, CAM’s Head of Conservation, and Caroline Hernandez, Kress Conservation Fellow, will guide you through the conservation labs and museum galleries, highlighting the range of egg tempera artworks now under our care. After taking a close look at pigment choices, design challenges, and a range of techniques, we will make our way to the Marek Family Commons, where tour participants can learn how to make and paint with egg tempera using historically documented recipes and methods.
